Be Thankful

Do not spoil what you have by desiring what you have not; remember that what you now have was once among the things you only hoped for.
— Epicurus

One of the simplest ways to achieve happiness is to practice and cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Instead of once a year on Thanksgiving, practice it daily. Studies by Robert A. Emmons, a psychology professor at UC Davis, show that people who focus on what they are grateful for have better emotional well-being, especially a positive mood, compared with people who focus on the negative or neutral information.

Now couple your gratitude with some of that learned optimism and you’ll be a force to be reckoned with.
